A little about me

Though I was born in Arcadia, California, I spent a majority of my life growing up in Shanghai, China. I feel very blessed to have had such a diverse environment in the early years of my life and it helped me form a much stronger relationship with my heritage as a Chinese Malay individual. I returned to the States after about thirteen years abroad to a ridiculous amount of culture shock. But having gone through it so many times before as a young child, I prided myself on being adaptable enough to take the plunge.

I have been fortunate enough to do a lot of traveling as a young adult and am almost addicted by how much a new culture can surprise and captivate me. Though I primarily focus on the food (I find it fascinating how the same ingredient can be transformed by its environment, by its historical and cultural origins), I also see a lot of value in different world perspectives.

I also find that I’m at my best in creative environments. There are so many beautiful things to inspire you to create in this world. I find being a creator and a designer one of the most rewarding things I have ever been lucky enough to stumble across.

Another important thing to know about me is that I absolutely love dogs. So much so that I can’t even put into words how much I utterly adore dogs. Below is the puppy currently in my life. His name is Butters and he is a Chow Chow Golden Retriever mix from the Boulder Humane Society. He is five years old and loves squirrels, peanut butter, snow, and walks.
